Productivity and Gene Haas Foundation Present $20,000 Grant Check to South Central College

Congratulations to South Central College, Faribault, MN for being awarded a BIG check for $20,000 from the Gene Haas Foundation!

South Central College has an excellent Machine Tool Technology (now referred to as CIM) Program with (2) locations – North Mankato and their newly revamped Faribault facility. CIM Instructors include Bill Block, Chris DeVries, Cody McCall and Jon Morgan.
 
South Central College is one of the Right Skills Now Fast-Track Program institutions, which began with President Obama’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness back in 2011.  Minnesota State University at Mankato and Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis worked with the Council and the Manufacturing Institute to develop the curriculum and were the first two schools to implement the now nationwide program aimed at getting people back to work in Manufacturing jobs fast – a 16-week accelerated Certificate program.
 
The money will be used to help provide Scholarships for students in their Machine Tool Technology programs.
 
The Gene Haas Foundation awards grants to High Schools and Post-Secondary Schools to assist with their programs, including scholarships for students pursuing Manufacturing Careers.  Schools can find out more about potential opportunities and apply for Scholarship Grants at www.ghaasfoundation.org.
